This blog is dedicated to our dear Zachary who has recently been diagnosed with T-cell acute lymphoblastic leukemia. We love our Zachary and hope this blog will help our family and friends stay informed and give them the means to give their support in anyway they see fit. We love you all and are so grateful for the love and support you have given and still give to Zach and his family.

Zach is Home (for a couple days)
So good to be home :) We were at the clinic for his chemo yesterday and they said his blood count was good enough to go home for a few days. We love being at Aunt Velda's house but there's nothing like home. Zachary quickly found the remote... control this morning along with Woody (a present left on the table with a note from Trevin Flake that he wanted Zachary to have his Woody so he would get better faster, so sweet and thank you Trevin : ) Thank you to everyone for all your love support and help with my family while I was gone. My sister Donna was correct when she posted we live in the best community in the world. I love this place. I will try to continue to post pictures but I'm not as good at this facebook thing as Aunt Velda. Love you all, CyrenaSee More

I just wanted to share with everyone a little bit of the love that is surrounding us in this wonderful town of ours! (I hope this is ok with the people that told me) The other day I was told by a friend that her daughter who had been saving her money for a long time to buy something special came up to her and told her that she wanted to give the money to Zach instead. Today as I was around town passing out flyers for the run I went into an office and found out that a little girl from Zachs school (who frequently played basketball with him) is trying to set up a car wash and give all proceeds to Zach. So if you see a car wash for Zach please please please stop by and get your car washed! I am sure there are many other stories out there that I haven't heard about yet!
May our Heavenly Father bless all of you for your love and support at this time in our lives! We are truly blessed to live in such a wonderful community!

He loves his mommy's tacos! These were 4 and 5 of 8! The Dr. said his appetite would increase and boy has it! He literally ate a taco in under one minute, its hilarious! You have to see his taco dance after he finishes a taco!! We hope Dad and the kids at home enjoy this, Mom and Zach sure miss them!
Treatment on 4/12/12
The ipad is not an effective distraction now, he knows what's going on now. Mom and Aunt Velda are still learning the best ways to hold him down. This morning was rough.

This is Zachs favorite spot for watching power rangers on the ipad! It's amazing how it brings him so much joy!
Zach Update
So Zach had his first appointment at the East Valley Clinic yesterday. Everyone there was great with him. When we were released from hospital his port was not working and they had made us an appointment for Tues to be put under and have some test run on it to figure out what was wrong. Well his amazing nurse at the clinic yesterday was able to access it with no problem so we escaped another surgery YAY!! His bone marrow levels are still a little high so he will be doing another bone marrow test this Thursday along with another Chemo treatment on Friday. He has been a trooper through all of this and we are so proud of him for being so strong and brave!

Bake Sale!
We are having a bake sale this Saturday the 14th at the Little League Opening Day! We will be there all day. Hopefully the weather will cooperate, if not find us at either Bashas or Eds. Come and purchase your favorite treats and show your love and support for Zach!
Happy Easter to all! On this day we celebrate that our Savior lives and loves us. It is thru Him and because of Him that we can return to live together as families forever. At this time we certainly believe that and hold strong to that principle. Zachary was released from the hospital last night and was running to the elevators when the nurse told us we could leave. It was nice being able to spend Easter together as a family out of the hospital. Zachary is enjoying his freedom here at his Aunt’s house and is getting spoiled. We love all of you and appreciate all the love, prayers and support. –Cyrena and Dale

Update from Dale & Cyrena
Today Zach had his first bone marrow test and spinal along with his chemo. We won't get the results until Monday. He couldn't eat past 8:00 this morning. He went in about 2:30 and got done around 3:30. It took a little for him to wake up, but once he did he was all for eating and eating. He watched the Diamond Backs win their opening day game. So all in all it was a good day. We are crossing our fingers that he can be released from the hospital late tomorrow, so we can have Easter together as a family outside of the hospital. Thanks again for all the faith and prayers. All the support is Awesome you all Rock.

A Message from Dale & Cyrena
Today is the first day since we have been here that Zach is acting like himself. It is so good to see. He went for a long walk even though he cannot leave the floor. We have to almost run to keep up with him. We would like to say thanks so much for the out pouring of thoughts and prayers and to all that have stopped by to say hello. It means so much to know that so many are rooting for Zach. He i...s so ready to get out of the hospital. Baseball has been the medicine of choice today. Watching the Rookie, looking at his baseball cards, with his glove and ball by his side, and wearing his baseball attire from head to toes. Zachary loves you all and cannot wait to see everyone again.

His appetite is finally back after 2 days of not eating. Apples, doritos, watermelon, rice crispy treat, spaghetti!
Zachary made it through his second chemo treatment today with flying colors. This round of the treatment consisted of 3 shots into his legs. It took 7 of us to get it done but he was a trooper!! They will be keeping him here at the hospital until at least Saturday and possibly longer depending on how he responds to Friday's chemo and bone marrow test. He is starting to have a few minutes here and there of being himself which makes us all smile.
Ugh! Medicine!
Zachary doesn't like his medicine so he has gotten to where he bites the spoon when his mom tries to give it to him. It is funny because his eyes get big when he does it!

Up and Moving!
He had a rough day today which is to be expected but he loves his new baseball blanket that his Aunt Judy gave him. Thanks Aunt Judy!
Zachary update
They were finally able to move Zach out of intensive care. He is now on the oncology floor and has a little more freedom to move around. He is still connected to the IV but they are planning on removing that later today, which will be great so he can move around more. He is starting to get stir crazy and anxious to be up and about. He likes to get up and look out his window, which by the way has a great view of the Diamondsbacks ball park. I don't know if Zach understands that it is a baseball park but he enjoys looking at it.
Today is day 3 of the 3 year treatment, so it is going to be a long road. It is a day to day thing so we can't really say where they will be next week. We won't have anything specific to help with until the day it is needed. Cyrena is taking a 30 day medical leave for work and their living expenses from going back and forth are going to be overwhelming. At this time that is our main concern. We will be setting up a bank account very soon so anyone that is able and willing to donate money can do so. We will post that information as soon as it is available.
We want to thank everyone for the out pouring of love and support for the family. It is amazing to me to see how many people care and love not only Zach and his family but also his extended family. May our Heavenly Father bless you all for you love and kindness. Please continue to keep Zach and family in your prayers.
Also, if anyone has any questions that are not being answered or you would like to send a message to the family please feel free to leave a comment and I will do my best to answer them. All comments will be passes on to Cyrena and Dale.
